      • If it is your first time playing the game this will start the first level.
      • If you have played the game before your level completion progress, unlocked decks, and gem total are stored in your local web browser.
      • The welcome screen has 2 buttons at the top and 1 at the bottom.
        • Top left: settings menu allows you to return home, control sound & reset your gameplay data.
        • Top right: developer information.
        • Bottom center cards: use your gems to unlock any of the 5 other different card backs & select which deck you would like to play.
        • Game Controls
          • Game goal
            • Your goal is to use up the entire card stack while ensuring your total never goes below 1 or above 20.
              • Each level has a unique stack configuration and order.
              • Any card laid atop other cards on the stack must be used or played before you can play other cards further down that stack.
              • Each card has either a static value on it, or a relative position.
                • Static value: the amount shown on the card (from -9 to +9) is added to the number shown on the main card stack.
                • Relative value: the stack is changed to the value of this card when it is laid.
                  • Max shifts the deck value to 20.
                  • Min shifts the deck value to 1.
                  • Two arrows pointing to the center shifts the deck value to 10.
                  • Placement options
                    • You have 4 options with each card:
                      • Use it right away by placing it directly on the pile. Clicking it with your mouse automatically does this.
                      • Wait on it & ignore it while working on other parts of the stack.
                      • Temporarily store the card in the hold stack to the right of the active waste card pile.
                      • Spend 10 gems to discard the card.
                        • Each level you beat pays you roughly 7 gems & unlocking other card deck designs costs 100 gems.
                        • Level completion
                          • When a level is complete click on “Tap to Continue” to start the next level.
                          • Alternatively you can click the home button to go back to the game welcome screen or the card deck button to switch the design of the card backs or use gems to buy other card back designs.
                          • Strategy
                            • There are really 3 or 4 core strategies to this game.
                            • Work on multiple stacks in parallel.
                              • If you deplete one stack fully while ignoring another stack of cards then you lose the optionality of being able to pull from either stack as needed to keep the numbers in range. By having 2 or more stacks remaining it allows you to pull from a second or third option if one particular row is not working well for you.
                              • If a card has a relatively low absolute value and is the last card on a stack it can make sense to leave it for its optionality while working on other parallel stacks.
                              • Keep close to 10.
                                • By keeping your total close to 10 it enables you flexibility by allowing you to play almost any card and stay in range.
                                • Sometimes you have to consider which order you would want to lay cards in to keep the numbers near the middle. For example, if you had a value of 10 & had 2 available cards of “min” and “+9” you could first lay the min, taking your value down to 1, and then lay the +9 and you are right back at 10.
                                • If it feels the deck is skewing high sometimes it makes sense to add up to 18, 19 or 20, then use the max card. Similarly, if it feels the deck is skewing low it can make sense to get the value down to 1, 2 or 3 before using the min card.
                                  • Use the hold position regularly
                                    • If you are close to 20 and have a large positive card you may need to put that large positive card in the hold position.
                                    • If you are close to zero and have a large negative card you may need to put that large negative card in the hold position.
                                    • If you have a card in hold & no longer need to leave it there then open that space up for future cards in the deck.
                                    • If things are going well, it may make sense to put a middle card in the hold position to save it for later and use it when needed. It is the singular best card in the deck as it guarantees you can make another play no matter what card is next.
                                    • If you are stuck you can click on the settings menu button in the upper left corner and press home to go back to the welcome screen & start the current level again from the beginning.
                                      • The alternative is to spend 10 gems throwing a card away, but I would typically rather play the level again than do that. 🙂
