How to Play

Play Daily Word Search online for free. Daily Word Search is a word finding game that provides puzzles in 3 difficulty levels and puzzle sizes for each day of the year. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select a grid size to begin:
- 12 x 12
- 14 x 14
- 16 x 16
- Select Help to read the game’s instructions.
- Select Print Today’s Puzzle to create a hard copy of the day’s puzzle.
- Change the game’s language through the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen.

        Controls & indicators
        The game’s indicators are located on the left side of the screen. From the top, these are as follows:

        The word list
        The present date
        The timer
        The first row of buttons, from left to right:
        Pause button: Momentarily stop the game’s timer.
        Reset button: Return everything to the way it was when you began.
        The second row of buttons, from left to right:
        Music button: Toggle the game’s music.
        Sound effects button: Toggle the game’s audio cues.
        Enlarge button: Switch between windowed and full screen modes
        Game Play
        Generating puzzles
        The game generates a different puzzle for every day of the year.
        You can choose up to 365 to 366 different puzzles for each difficulty level.
        You can play again by doing the following:
        Choose the puzzle of a different day on the calendar.
        Select next on the winning screen.
        Basic rules
        Highlight the words listed on the left side of the screen.
        To highlight a word, start from the first letter and end with the last.
        If the word appears backwards, start from the right and move to the left.
        If the word appears bottom-to-top, start from the bottom.
        Words appear across the grid and in any direction.
        Words that appear horizontally can be spelled left-to-right or right-to-left.
        Words that appear vertically can be spelled up-down or down-up.
        Words that appear diagonally can be spelled in any direction.
        Check the word list for he words you must find.
        You will not see all of the words at once. Only 10 words are visible onscreen at any given time.
        The total number of words you must find is shown below the list. Each time you find a word, it subtracts 1 from the total.
        Each time you solve one word, a new word replaces it until only 10 remain.
        Although the game has a timer, it does not have a time limit.
        If you’re new to the game, take all the time you need.
        If you want to challenge yourself, see if you can beat your previous times in the next puzzle.
        Tips and tricks
        Search for multiple words at a time. This will help you identify the positions of one word without needing to find the others.
        Use an object (either a pencil or a ruler) to guide you through the rows of the grid. This is especially handy if you print out the puzzle.
        Another on-paper trick you can use is to cross out the words as you find them. You don’t need to do this in the online version as the game removes them from the list for you.
        If you’re solving the puzzle on paper, consider turning it upside down.
        Find the letters of the words and see if you can build them up:
        Try to look for pairs of letters. This is especially useful if a word has two of the same letter appear consecutively (e.g. boot, bills, poor).
        You can also try this with the last 3 letters of a word.
        This method is especially useful for words that are difficult to find.
        The game is not timed. But if you want to work fast anyway, start with the more obvious words first before going after the difficult ones.
